Does grooming include trimming nails and cleaning ears? Nail trimming and ear cleaning is standard for all grooming appointments.
Is an appointment required? Yes, an appointment is always required as we are most always booked in advance. During spring and summer months there may be a waiting period of up to a few weeks. Note: during these periods we will advise you of our waiting period and also our cancellation waiting list.
How long does grooming take? The grooming process itself takes between 1-3 hours depending on the service you require however we do not work on any dog continuously. Instead we break the different stages of the grooming process into smaller segments so that your dog can relax, play with other dogs or simply enjoy being next to a human without being groomed as a rest period in between. The benefit being, a happier dog whom is less stressed. Note: we could require your dog to be in our care for up to 6 hours and on completion will contact you by phone.
What if my dog is nervous? Some dogs find themselves very anxious when the time comes to take the trip to the grooming salon. It is not uncommon for them to be nervous at first, after all, they are leaving the comfort of their usual daily routine. When taken out of their element, the only thing that they may be sure of is you. Being handed over to someone else may be frightening at first. Our staff all have pets of their own. When you visit Wagging Tails, one thing that is very unique about how we work is that we, in a way, get to adopt the dogs that come into the salon for the duration of their stay. We build a relationship, a bond, with each one that spends their time with us. As a bit of comfort to those of you with nervous pets when you drop them off: We can assure you that most all of them do very well when they go into the salon with us. They become very happy with, of course, their "tails wagging" all day long. They do fine when they realise that nothing bad will happen to them and that it's just another day at the salon where grooming is a enjoyable experience!
What if I'm in a hurry? Or I only want to leave my dog for a minimal amount of time? If you are time poor or need your dog back for that special occasion, or you have a sensitive dog requiring first class priority treatment? Allow us to put your mind at ease and take the pressure out of your day with our priority grooming service. We will ensure your dog will be ready within 1-2 hours and on completion will contact you by phone. Note: an additional charge will apply and requests for this service MUST be done while making the appointment.

Note: if your vet has prescribed a special product for use, it will be returned to you upon completion of grooming or alternatively we can store this for you for future use.
Do you use sedation? If your dog does not enjoy the grooming experience, we make all attempts to use rehabilitation to alter the perception of your dog’s experiences without sedation. Note: however if this does not work for your dog you may be asked to collect your dog and seek alternative grooming options.
At what age can my dog begin grooming? Handling and grooming should begin as early as possible to habituate your new puppy with the grooming process. This will make for ease of any future grooming needs.
